Alchemy is often described as the ancient pursuit of turning base metal into gold. But at its core, it was never about metal - it was about transformation. In this piece, symbolism becomes the language of that transformation. A skull anchors the composition - a quiet reminder of mortality, the unchanging truth of existence. Beside it, a pomegranate speaks of life, fertility, temptation, and abundance - the fullness of experience. A bee represents devotion and the sweetness born from labor, while an ant embodies discipline, persistence, and silent survival. And then, unexpectedly, nine kitten paws appear. Soft against severity, they introduce tenderness into the composition. They symbolize the myth of nine lives - not as superstition, but as resilience. The instinct to land on your feet. The quiet refusal to disappear. The many versions of ourselves we become after each fall. Here, alchemy is the invisible force connecting all elements. This work is not about turning lead into gold. It is about turning trauma into wisdom. Decay into beauty. Fear into fascination. Endings into transformation. Alchemy invites the viewer to consider that nothing truly ends - it evolves. And perhaps most importantly, it suggests that we hold more lives within us than we realize.
